Silink Campaigns in Bermuda for UN Resolution
17 Mar 2006 16:54
While in Bermuda, Professor Martin Silink, President-Elect of IDF spoke to The Royal Gazette to spread awareness about diabetes and the campaign for a United Nation’s Resolution on diabetes.
In the April 25th article, The Royal Gazette reported that Silink urged “Bermudians with diabetes to come out of the shadows and unite against a world epidemic that is barrelling out of control.”
Silink, who has been campaigning worldwide for the resolution, told the newspaper that the UN Resolution would raise awareness of the diabetes epidemic. He said, “I think people vaguely understand that diabetes is a major problem, but this will actually highlight that this is a problem equal to other epidemics such as HIV/AIDS. It is rising at such a rate that governments must do something about it.”
