Georgian authorities have thrown their full support behind the campaign for a United Nations Resolution on diabetes.
In a letter to the campaign, George Tsereteli, Minister of Parliament and Chairman of the Committee on Health and Social Affairs, said that his committee, along with the Ministry of Health, Social and Labour, and other public and non-governmental organizations, “strongly support your very important initiative regarding the UN Resolution on diabetes.”
The Georgian Union of Diabetes and Endocrine Associations (GUDEAS) created a special poster of support for the ‘Unite for Diabetes’ campaign. It was signed by hundreds of government officials, physicians and people living with diabetes. Sandra Roelofs, First Lady of Georgia was also a signatory and is an enthusiastic and public supporter of the Resolution.
Tsereteli said “we are confident that the UN Resolution on diabetes will provide a great impetus for all countries to pay attention to the problem of diabetes.” He said that the Resolution would help to improve diabetes care in Georgia and wished the campaign success.
