El Salvador joins the 'Unite for Diabetes' campaign

At the Second National Diabetes Fair in El Salvador in September, IDF Youth Ambassador Zenia Ethel Rivas gave an impassioned plea for the campaign for a United Nations Resolution on diabetes.
The event was attended by more than 3,000 doctors, educators and people living with diabetes over the course of two days. Attendees included the El Salvador Minister of Health Dr Guillermo Maza Brisuelas. Zenia introduced the campaign to the minister, pinned him with her own blue circle pin – the campaign’s logo – and won his support for the UN Resolution on diabetes.
Zenia said that the Dr Brisuelas expressed El Salvador’s support for the Resolution and gave his unconditional backing to the ‘Unite for Diabetes’ campaign.
The event was hosted by the Asociación Salvadoreña de Diabéticos (ASADI) and featured a ‘Unite for Diabetes’ stand where the public were given stickers on behalf of the campaign and information on how to support a UN Resolution on diabetes.
ASADI plans on participating in the World Diabetes Foundation’s Global Diabetes Walk and are planning other celebrations for World Diabetes Day on November 14.
