Azerbaijani groups lobby for UN Resolution on diabetes

A joint meeting in support of the UN Resolution on diabetes was held on 29 October by the Azerbaijan Diabetes Society and the Scientific Society of Endocrinologists at the Center of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism.

Mominat Omarova, Chair of the Azerbaijan Diabetes Society informed the participants about ‘Unite for Diabetes’ campaign, the UNR global online petition and called on everyone to be part of the Resolution.

The Chairman of the Scientific Society of Endocrinologists, Prof. Valeh Mirzazadeh, highlighted the significance of the UN Resolution on diabetes in raising awareness among decision makers; and the recognition of social, human and economic burden of diabetes.

Participants expressed their concerns about needs of people with diabetes and unanimously supported the Resolution. The groups agreed to lobby the
Minister of Healthcare for his support the Resolution.
