A Call for Worldwide Support for a United Nations Resolution on Diabetes
17 Mar 2006 16:54
In the March issue of Diabetes Health, former Miss America and global diabetes advocate Nicole Johnson Baker’s “A Call for a Worldwide Unity in Diabetes,” called for worldwide attention to the diabetes pandemic and promoted the campaign for a United Nations Resolution on diabetes.
Baker’s article is one of the first to promote the IDF-led campaign for a UN Resolution on diabetes. The article highlighted the need for a UN Resolution because of the growing diabetes pandemic, detailed the strong backing of the global diabetes community, and explained the goals of the resolution.
“The aim is to run the largest global awareness campaign ever held for diabetes with the goal of reaching one billion people,” Professor Martin Silink, IDF president-elect said in the article.
